Warranties:

BESPOKE WOODEN DOOR WARRANTY:

Limited Bespoke Door Warranty

Subject to the conditions and restrictions listed below, doors manufactured by Trading Doors Ltd through our Joiners meet or exceed industry standards and are warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship as follows:

Warp Damage

Claims due to warp may be deferred for up to 12 months from the date of the claim in order to allow the door the opportunity to return to its original form once it has acclimatised to local humidity and temperature conditions. The deferral will not be counted against the warranty period.

Warp shall not be considered a defect unless it exceeds ¼” (6mm) in the plane of the door. Warp is measured by placing a straight edge or a taut string on the concave face of the door and determining the maximum distance from the straight edge or string to the door face. This warranty is only valid when the door is properly hung, finished, and is sealed on all six surfaces. In order to be covered by the warranty, warp must occur in the door itself, and not be the result of an improperly installed jamb (frame) or a wall out of plumb forcing a frame to twist and therefore the door to warp.

Exclusions to Warranty

  • Any special custom product manufactured according to the customer’s specifications,
  • Dissatisfaction with the performance or appearance of our finish, or a field-applied finish,
  • Dissatisfaction with variations in the color or texture of the wood, as well as knots and knot fill in the wood,
  • Damage caused by others, or by any cause outside the control of Trading Doors Ltd, including but not limited to damage caused by misuse, abuse, accident, mishandling, or by fire, flood, earthquake, storm, or other acts of nature,
  • Any door that is misused. “Misuse” of a door includes, but is not limited to, using a door on part of a building without providing an adequate overhang or canopy and an appropriate finish colour. An adequate overhang depends on the typical weather conditions of the area where the door is to be used, but at the very minimum means an overhang projecting a distance from the structure equal to one half the distance between the bottom of the door and the bottom of the overhang at the point which is farthest from the door. This generally is a depth of overhang in excess of 1.2m from the flat surface of the door. An appropriate colour is pale / light in shade and tint only
  • Doors that are excessively trimmed: excessive is more than ½” (6mm) from the top or sides or more than 1½” (18mm) from the bottom
  • Damage due to failure to perform normal homeowner’s maintenance, including maintaining the finish as appropriate
  • Product failure due to improper installation
  • Attempts to repair the product without our prior authorisation
  • Panel shrinkage and misalignment, which leaves an unstained / unpainted line around the edges of the panel(s). This is caused by differences in temperature and humidity, and is not a defect
  • Slight expansion and contraction of the door: this is due to changes in temperature and humidity and is not a defect, as timber is a naturally expanding and contracting material
  • Water infiltration
  • Wood sills: inappropriately fixed to the door or not finished correctly prior to fitting
  • Doors not sealed on all six surfaces or inside hinge, lock or letterbox cut outs with an appropriate finish: for external doors we recommend a minimum of four coats, although preferably five coats should be applied. We only recommend Sikkens Rubbol paints and Sikkens Cetol microporous wood stains and our guarantee will only cover an external door or frame finished in this product. Our external bespoke doors come sealed with a sprayed white primer finish if they are to be painted. If a door is to be wood stained, then it will be supplied unfinished. For painted doors, the application of 2 undercoat layers followed by 3 to 4 gloss coats is recommended. Stained doors should have 2 preservative/base coats followed by 3 to 4 top coats. Many finishes carry a 5 or 10 year guarantee. Internal bespoke doors can be either painted or varnished with appropriate solvent based products but can also be finished with OSMO oils and suitable waxes

All doors must be finished immediately upon receipt and before installation. We will not extend our warranty to any door that has been installed before it has been finished appropriately.

The Warranty is to the original purchaser only and proof of the date of purchase is required. The warranty is conditional upon following and complying with the instructions and recommendations in our installation, care and maintenance instructions. This warranty covers replacement of faulty parts only and does not cover incidental expenses.
