Our steel Class 2 and Class 3 Apartment Steel FD30 fire rated door sets are a newly designed, revolutionary and highly resilient burglar proof doorset.

They call you a  realist,  someone  who  likes to think in terms of worst-case scenarios.  When others take things for granted, you always remain smart and diligent about protecting yourself, your family, your property.  Because you know that no kingdom lasts without an army to guard its borders.  And no paradise is safe without a hell of a door.

By choosing the right front door you will make the best first impression of your home.  However, it should not merely be a statement; the level of security  must  always be a priority.  Now at Trading  Doors we are able to make both of these requirements come true through our new relationship with Cerberus Steel Doors.

Steel Door Structure

The look and feel of windows and doors are crucial factors in defining the character of our houses, and it is now possible to dramatically improve the security of your home without compromising its architectural appearance with a residential security door.  The clever thing about our security doors is that they are designed to have the appearance of any other door, but if you were to look inside you would see that their construction is notably different.  The fully customisable external and internal door panels conceal a complex series of technical components that offer an unrivalled level of security and flawless operation.  The external door panels can be made to reflect a certain style of architecture such as Victorian, Georgian, 1930’s or a modern day town house, while the door itself provides security, insulation and a notable reduction in noise.

Any city in the UK is a great city.  But great is also the world of crime.  To keep their families and their property protected, more and more people around the nation like to think in terms of worst case scenarios.  And that’s how they find us.

Trading Doors in partnership with Cerberus Doors have a mission to serve realists like yourself.  Our impenetrable security doors provide top-notch protection against burglars, bullets, or any other hell that may be breaking loose outside your front door.

Most building materials – plasterboard, brick, block, non security rated composite panels, doors, windows, steel cladding or shipping containers, etc., can be breached in a surprisingly short period of time.  The testing process that the doors go through stipulates the allowable toolset and minimum time at each security rating level to prevent forcible entry through a building element.  In the case of a modular building, the test measures the time to make a hole big enough to get a person through (minimum of an elliptical shape 400mm x 225mm) plus it looks at all the joints and fixing to the building environment as appropriate.  In relation to getting access through a door set this standard ensures that the door and frame have a level of protection that you require.  Hopefully this knowledge will not be available to your potential intruder – which makes the test more onerous than it looks.  Below is a list of Classes of doors and the tools the door is required to resist over a set period of time.

Class 1: Opportunist attack by bodily force using minimal tools (e.g. screwdriver, knife, pliers, etc),

Class 2: More determined opportunist attack with tools of a higher mechanical advantage (e.g. Class 1 tools plus bolt cutters, claw hammer, drill, etc).,

Class 3: Deliberate forced entry of protected premises using bodily force and a selection of attack options (e.g. Class 2 tools plus short axe, chisels, crowbar, gas torch, etc),

Class 4: Experiencing attempts at forced entry with higher tool levels (e.g. Class 3 tools plus felling axe, sledgehammer, steel wedges, disc grinder, jigsaw, etc),

Class 5: Serious attempts at forced entry with top end battery power tools used by fire and rescue teams (e.g. Class 4 tools plus circular saw and the awesome 750W reciprocating saw with specialist blades).  This is a massive step up in protection level from Class 4 – using state of the art cutting tools.

However these tools are readily available to anybody with serious intent.  So the test and certification process is designed to test the time required for any would be burglar to gain access into the building before being disturbed by neighbours or passing foot traffic.

Mottura Fiam Lock

Exciting recent advances in technology has enabled the basic mechanical lock to evolve dramatically.  Most notable has been the enhancement through the addition of electronic components; meaning access to our homes can be intelligent and above all, practical and safe.  This radical change in performance means that security doors can now recognise us, open on our arrival and close as soon as we enter our home.

They can even communicate directly with the alarm system automatically if required.  To achieve best results we choose Fiam ISEO with options such as: Remote pad, Keypad, Radio control, or a Biometric E-Key scanner.

As an optional lock or nightlatch we use ASSA & Dorma.  Heavy Duty locks have posts of stainless steel and a stronger handle follower spring among other features for handling heavier door pressures.

They comply with EN 12209 standard.  They come with a lever latch and deadbolt.  Handing of the lever latch is reversible.  The deadbolt is operated with the key or the thumbturn.  The lever latch is retracted with the handle, key or thumbturn.

All of our security doors are glazed as standard with Pilkington ‘Optilam’ P6B 14mm laminated double glazed panels in order to provide greater security than any other glass.  It is proven to withstand multiple blows from an axe, crowbar or hammer, which are the most commonly used weapons by smash-and-grab criminals.

This type of glazing can be installed as clear, tinted, frosted or even bullet-proof, depending on your requirements.  Our talented artists can work with you to design stained glass for your door that is unique.  This can include anything from family crests to door numbers.  We are even able to replicate the stained glass in your existing door if this is necessary to comply with heritage requirements in your neighbourhood.
